Title:                                                      Driver Trainer

 

Qualifications:                                  

1.   High School Diploma required.
2.       Possess and maintain at least a class B CDL license with P2S and Air Brake endorsements.
3.       Must have attended or agree to attend workshops hosted by the Colorado Department of Education designed to
 certify trainers.

4.       Must have been a School Bus Driver for a minimum of 3 years.

5.       Training experience preferred but not required.

6.       Flexibility with hours of employment.

7.       Must submit to mandatory random drug and alcohol testing.

Terms of Employment:                 

1.       Notice of Assignment shall be for 12 months.

2.       Compensation and leave benefits will be according to the adopted Classified Salary Schedule.

3.       Those new to the district are required to have a physical examination and go through a background check

           as per  board policy.

 

Reports to:                                         Business Services Director

Duties and Responsibilities:                   

1.       Train employees for regular student routes and activity trips to include mountain driving and use of retarders,
 driving in severe weather, CDL pre-trip inspections, departmental policies, requirements and procedures and all
applicable laws and regulations.  Training will be provided for all record keeping, assignment procedures, and great
 emphasis will be placed on training for student management.
2.       Provide for continued training to further enhance our driver's abilities and skills including annual First Aid/CPR
 training sessions and monthly bus driver meetings.
3.       Provide information relevant to changes in the driver's handbook and departmental procedures.
4.       Perform necessary driver testing and driver evaluations in conjunction with the Business Services Director.
5.       Keep neat and accurate records of all training activities.  Document time and content of training of individual
 participation in the training exercise.
6.       Monitor driver files for expirations of various drivers' certifications (i.e. CDL, CDE test, First Aid, Eye Exam,
 DOT physicals, etc.).
7.       Assist, when possible, in interviewing new transportation personnel.
8.       Maintain the routing system software for the district on a routine basis. 
9.       Assist the Transportation Supervisor with mileage and other data tracking specifications as needed.
10.     Maintain the student transportation contracts.
11.     Assist the Transportation Supervisor and Fleet Technician with minor projects as needed.
12.     Perform all other duties as assigned by the Business Services Director.

Other Functions:  Functions may vary significantly depending on needs and staffing.
1.       Ability to maintain a "positive" and "effective" working relationship with the staff and the community.
2.       Support the Business Services Director in the development of training programs for both existing and new
 employees.
3.       Provide equipment and material to be used for monthly transportation meetings to include- school buses,
 overhead projector, tape measure, video machine, training manuals, etc.
4.       Ability to aide with staff absences across the district.
 

 

Title:                                                      Fleet Technician

Qualifications:                                  

1.       High School Diploma required.
2.       Have knowledge and competence of the proper methods and equipment used in maintenance and repair of all fleet
vehicles.
3.       Must have three years experience in vehicle maintenance operations.
4.       Possess or acquire basic set of hand tools necessary to perform fleet maintenance and repair.
5.       Possess or acquire and maintain CDE Annual Inspector Certification.
6.       Possess or acquire and maintain at least class B CDL license with P2S and Air Brake endorsements.
7.       Possess or acquire and maintain First Aid and CPR Certification.
8.       Possess basic computer skills.
9.       Must submit to mandatory random drug and alcohol testing.
10.     Acquire six hours of bus driver in-service yearly.

Reports to:                                         Fleet Operations Supervisor
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.       Maintain and repair all fleet vehicles as needed.
2.       Maintain cleanliness and sanitary condition of fleet vehicles.
3.       Maintain fuel levels in spare bus and small vehicle fleet.
4.       Maintain complete and accurate record/reports as requested by supervisor.
5.       Inform supervisor of parts and supplies that need to be ordered for fleet operations.
6.       Communicate effectively with administrators, supervisors, bus drivers, teachers, students and the public.
7.       Perform Fleet Operations Supervisor duties in his/her absence.
8.       Attend CDE workshops and training classes as needed.
9.       Assist in maintaining cleanliness and safe conditions of shop and outside area.
10.     Assist other maintenance personal in adverse weather or emergency situations.
11.     Be able to operate all school transportation vehicles and serve as a substitute driver when needed.
12.     Handle emergency situations effectively.
13.     Flexibility in schedule for duties outside of normal working hours:
         a.       Early arrival in adverse weather or emergency situations.
         b.      Equipment failure after hours or weekends.
14.   Perform all other duties as assigned by the Fleet Operations Supervisor.
