SUMMARY: Repair and maintain all district vehicles and equipment.

Job Tasks Descriptions

1. Diagnose and repair all types of vehicles and equipment to include, but not limited to, diesel /gasoline engines, drive-train systems, suspension & steering, heating & cooling systems, airbrakes, wheelchair lifts etc.

2. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and state inspections.

3. Assist drivers at and away from facility with operation of vehicles.

4. Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.

5. Enter work orders into computer.

6. Respond to roadside repair and service calls.

7. Fabricate or repair using welding equipment.

8. Perform computer data scan on vehicles.

9. Install new and used equipment.

10. Minor body repair.

11. Maintain ASE Master Certificates, CDE Inspector Certificate and Air Brake Certificate.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
 High school diploma or equivalent.
 More than five (5) years of experience in vehicle maintenance repairs including medium/heavy duty diesel engines.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
 Criminal background check required for hire.
 Colorado Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P2 endorsement required within one month after entering position.
 Must be insurable through the District’s Self Insurance Pool.
 Requirement: ASE School Bus Master Certificate or ASE Truck Master Certificate
 CDE Inspector qualification certificate (including air brake) required within six months after entering position.
 Colorado Diesel Opacity license.

 Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
 Operating knowledge of tire mounting equipment, engine dig., computer, scanners, lab scopes, grinders, welders, torches, and lifting equipment.
 Operating knowledge of car brake lathe and regular brake lathe preferred at hire.
 Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.

Fleet Manager &/or Transportation & Fleet Operations Director

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
