Our industry is constantly challenged or supported by what happens at the State level. This committee monitors what bills are being presented in the legislature that may have any transportation related issues effecting our operations. We are committed to work with our State representatives to promote safe and efficient services and each year we are prominent players in there decision making by making our member’s voices heard. The committee is very active August through April. This committee works closely with CDE and Colorado State Patrol Motor Carrier Division, and the Commercial Drivers License compliance department regarding DOT rules and regulations, it’s interpretations and impact to school districts. Their goal is to be pro-active on behalf of many districts.

Each year the CSPTA holds two conferences. The first conference is a professional development and networking opportunity in the fall and a Vendor\Conference in the spring. This committee works with the current President on all the details which make these activities run smoothly and successfully. Members participate in choosing speakers, breakout sessions, networking opportunities and selection entertainment for each of the conferences. CSPTA conferences are popular events that allow the pupil transportation professionals through out the state of Colorado to meet to discuss the state-of-the-industry and sharpen their skills.

Curious about how good your skills are as a school bus driver? This committee puts together the competition and the winners go to the national competition. It’s a lot of hard work and it’s members are dedicated. We in CSPTA believe that each Colorado School district mechanic does there best to keep our buses in "tip-top" shape! We offer a first class competition in June for service technicians to enter to achieve valued awards! In recent years we have added the Special Needs Competition to the event which showcases the best "teams" of special need drivers and para’s that compete to represent Colorado at the National Level.
