Each year the Colorado State Pupil Transportation Association (CSPTA), Awards Committee seeks candidates who represent Excellence in providing transportation to Colorado students.  These prestigious awards recognize the outstanding Driver of the Year, Operations Support Person of the Year, Fleet Support Person of the Year, Administrator of the Year, and the transportation Para-Educator of the year.  The Awards Committee needs your help in finding these important people in your transportation department and community.  Your letter of recommendation will help us identify the 2012 Person of the Year, in each of these categories, who shares our belief that safe and efficient transportation plays a critical role in student achievement.

To nominate a Bus Driver, a Support Person (such as a dispatcher, secretary, router or trainer, etc.), a Service Technician (mechanic), an Administrator, or a Bus Assistant (Monitor), please provide a letter of recommendation using the following criteria:

Nomination Process/Submission must include the following:

• Person/district sponsoring the nomination and the role of the person being nominated will complete the CSPTA Nomination Questionnaire outlining the nominee's
• Nomination letter that provides descriptions of the nominee's outstanding accomplishments and/or innovations, whether they are driving, student management, fleet process or leading include techniques, assignments, projects etc.
• Contributions to students, district, school, and community
• How persons have demonstrated commitment to fostering safe driving, operating practices

All submissions are also asked to complete the below questions:

1. How does the nominee support district transportation department?
2. Describe some of the ways the nominee has invested in providing students with safe, responsive, and highly professional transportation services?
3. How does the nominee advocate for the safe transportation of students to the department, school administration and other district staff?
4. How has the nominee made a change in student achievement?
5. What else would you like to articulate regarding why you feel this person should be the 2012 Person of the Year?

Selection

The CSPTA Board of Directors will select the Persons of the Year in each category. Upon completion of the selections all recipients and districts  will be notified in early May of the nomination selections.

Notifications

Letters will be sent notifying the persons who were nominated and the persons selected in each category.

A letters will be sent to the department head (i.e. Executive Director, Director) and the Superintendent of Schools.

The Award and Celebration:

The Award consists of Plaque and letter from CSPTA, to be presented at the 2012 Colorado Department of Education conference, held in Pueblo Colorado June 2012 which is attended by a significant presence of districts across the state, drivers, operations, fleet, administrators and paraprofessionals.
